As you may be aware, Medicare will no longer cover virtual pulmonary rehabilitation (VPR) administered by a hospital due to the end of the Public Health Emergency (PHE). This will have devastating impacts on Medicare patients who have been attending VPR as it is critical that patients have access to their preferred form of PR.
Thankfully, Congress is considering a bill, HR 1406, that would permanently extend coverage of VPR administered
through a hospital under Medicare. This bill has been introduced to the House of Representatives and needs to pass through several Committees and the US Senate before it can be sent to the President and enacted into law. You can view the bill here.
Now is the perfect time as lung health advocates to make our voices heard and push for the passage of this important legislation. Click here to participate in the campaign via our Advocacy Action Center in support of HR 1406 and spread the word to your elected officials!
