SUMMARY:COPD and Sleep Apnea: can I have BOTH?
DESCRIPTION:AdventHealth Deland\nand Oxygenairians present\nCOPD and Sleep Apnea: Can I have BOTH?\nTuesday\, February 7th\, 2023 3:00 PM Eastern\n\nChronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are two of the most common pulmonary diseases. Unfortunately\, they can also occur simultaneously in a phenomenon commonly referred to as Overlap Syndrome\, creating twicefold the unpleasant conditions of disordered breathing. \nThis leads to long-term chronic health problems beyond the lungs (such as diabetes and heart disease) and their associated myriad complications. \nThe association between COPD as an obstructive lung disorder and OSA as a sleep breathing disorder means a person suffering from both has a compromised respiratory system that cannot even rely on sleeping at night for recovery or relief. \n  \n\nFeaturing Educator Dave Henry\n\nDave Henry\, RRT \nDave has over 45 years as a registered respiratory therapist and has worked as a respiratory clinical specialist with pulmonary support groups. Dave has provided clinical support\, education programs to patients and CEU programs to RTs. Previous positions included director of cardiopulmonary service\, adjunct professor in a respiratory care program\, home care and clinical support with a respiratory manufacturing company.
