Helping Patients Breathe Easier, Do More and Enjoy Life.
Breakthrough Technology for Severe Emphysema and COPD.

What is the Zephyr Valve procedure?

The Zephyr Valve is the first FDA-approved, minimally-invasive device available in the U.S. for treating patients with severe emphysema and COPD. A physician uses a bronchoscope to place on average four tiny valves in the airways to block off the damaged areas of the lungs so air no longer gets trapped there. No cutting or incision is required and the procedure is usually complete in under an hour.

The valve placement allows the healthier parts of the lungs to expand and relieves the pressure on the diaphragm, which decreases shortness of breath and makes breathing easier. Patients report being able to take full breaths immediately after the procedure and within a few days are back to doing everyday tasks with ease.

There Is A New Treatment Option Available

After a formal diagnosis and better understanding of the severity of your illness by your care team, you can discuss a treatment plan. There are many possible treatment options based on the severity of your disease, the impact on your quality of life and other current health conditions.

Zephyr Valves are clinically proven to help emphysema patients breathe easier, be more active, and enjoy a better quality of life.

“You don’t realize how much the disease has been limiting your life until you feel better. I am not counting my days anymore. I’m looking forward to getting back to my studio art classes and going back to the art museums in the city.

Now that I can breathe easier, my husband and I will be back to enjoying life and taking the long walks that we love. ”

Marianne, Parkridge, Illinois

“It’s been over a month now and I am breathing so much better and really back to living my life. Getting the Zephyr Valves was so much easier than getting a lung transplant. I’m just so grateful this was FDA approved in time for me. Now that I am feeling better I am busy creating my new bucket list.

For the first time in over 2 years, I am not worried about who will raise my girls. I am not cured, but this treatment gave me the most precious thing I needed … time!”

Lynn, Coolidge, Arizona

“My message to everyone suffering with COPD and emphysema is if you qualify for the valves, go for it! It’s been a miracle for me. It has made a huge difference in the quality of my life and my kids’ lives. They aren’t worrying about me constantly anymore. I am not cured, but I am living again!”

Lance, Fairfax, Virginia

“It’s been a few months since I had the procedure and I am feeling better each day. I no longer need oxygen during the day and soon will have the test to see if I even need it at night. I feel so free not having to be attached to that hose anymore.

I feel strongly that part of my new path in life is to help spread the word about the Zephyr Valves so other sufferers can learn about this option and have hope. I will be attending local breathing club meetings and sharing my story online.”
